LGBT+ Awareness Badge

To gain this badge you must do the following:

• Learn and understand the meaning of LGBT+ (for the older sections try to discuss the other letters too: LGBTQQIAAP)
• Show how you can be more open and how to prevent homophobia, biphobia and transphobia against LGBT+ members, either in the form of a poster, video or via social media
• Discuss either as a section or in small groups at least one/two of the following topics:
  • LGBT+ Pride
  • Well known LGBT+ figures
    • Marsha P. Johnson
    • Josephine Baker
  • LGBT+ rights around the world
  • LGBT+ history
  • LGBT+ flag and what it represents
  • Gender unicorn / Genderbread person
  • Challenging homophobic, biphobic and transphobic language and behaviours
  • Marriage equality

By wearing this badge you’re supporting/allying with the LGBT+ community, being someone who people can trust to help/listen/support/stand up for/defend the rights of individuals who identify as LGBT+ or are questioning their sexuality or gender identity.
